My concerns about Walter Ray's back injury may have been premature. He shot 277 his first game out of the blocks on the Earl Anthony pattern. That was the highest first game of anyone in the round.
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised at anything Walter Ray Williams Jr does on the lanes. But it's also too early to think that he can keep going strong. If you saw how hobbled he was earlier today the way I did on PBA Xtra Frame, you'd be seriously wondering if he could last out the tournament much less finish high enough in the standings to lock in Player of the Year.
