"I think these antics are great television, and the many prime time cable TV reality shows that have brought in HUGE advertising dollars are a testament to that. And I do not think it turns our sport into a spectacle. If anything, it dramatizes before the viewer's eyes the kind of intensities and pressures that come along with competition at the highest level of a sport, particularly in a sport where there is comparatively so little to gain and so much to lose. Poker-faced dopes throwing the ball and sitting back down again without the slightest word or gesture is boring and will do nothing for PBA or the sport as a whole. We're not trying to shape the culture here. The PBA is not the 700 Club. If you want the Howdy Doody Show check your local listings for reruns."
